Resceduled from 2020. The Paralympics is the largest competition of impaired athletics in the world and include both the summer and winter games, each held every four years on alternating two year periods. The 2020 Summer Games will occur in Tokyo, Japan.
The first Paralympic games were held in England in 1945 to aid in the rehabilitation of soldiers returning from WWII. In 1948 it became an international sporting competition under the initiation of Dr. Ludwig Gutmann of Germany.
In 1960, in Rome, the first official Paralympics were held.
