Sexual and Reproductive Health Week in Canada is an opportunity to raise awareness of health issues related to sexuality and to educate yourself and others on how to reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
STDs are an increasing public health concern. The most common are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and infectious syphilis continue to gain traction, with 80% of chlamydia and 70% of gonorrhea occurring in persons aged 15 to 29 years of age.
Health institutions have also noted a significant increase in STD occurrence amongst middle-aged adults (40-59 years) in Canada.
