Mike Donovan, president of Drum Bum, Inc. (Drumming.com), created National Drumming (or Drummers Day) to celebrate one of the oldest means of communication and music, the drum and drummers. The idea for a day for drummers came about during the creation of the website, which first appeared in 1999.
Drums remain crucial in music and date back to at least 6000 BC. Famous drummers include Phil Collins (Genisis), Ringo Starr (The Beatles), John Bonham (Led Zepplin), Roger Taylor (Queen), Cindy Blackman (Lenni Kravetz/Santana), and the legendary Buddy Rich.
Celebrate today by celebrating the best.
