National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM), created in 1999, was originally designated by Congress. The purpose is to learn more about the history and recognition of US armed services, the individuals who serve and their achievements.

VE (Victory in Europe) Day: May 8th
Military Spouse Appreciation Day: May 9th
Armed Forces Day: May 17
Memorial Day: Last Monday in May.
This is a month remembers, honors and recognizes all military personnel, those men and women who have served throughout our history, those now serving, their families and those whom have given their lives in defense of the United States. This includes members of the National Guard and Reserves, retirees and veterans, more than 90 million Americans over the past 230 years.
Funds raised during this month go to The Armed Forces Children's Education Fund, Inc. and other non-profits geared at assisting those who serve, have served and their families.
