About National Hepatitis Testing Day

DESCRIPTION:
National Hepatitis Testing Day is an educational initiative of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Division of Viral Hepatitis and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services to boost screening rates in the U.S. Throughout the nation, various health institutions offer free or low cost testing.
It occurs each year in May, which has been designated National Hepatitis Awareness Month since 2009, (previously it was National Hepatitis Week).
The goal is to highlight the silent epidemic of more than 5 million Americans suffering from chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis C infections.
