The original award, the Who's Who in E-commerce, started in 2008 to showcase women using the Internet and social media to promote their businesses.
Honorees are women who use various strategies, such as social media, email marketing, website design, video marketing, and more, to promote their business or organization. They must have owned their business or held a leadership role for at least two years, participated in cause-related events, mentored other women, and made a difference in others' lives.
Nominees receive a custom badge for their website and marketing, social media mentions, and listings on the nominee page. Finalists and honorees receive a profile page and in media announcements.
The Women Rocking the Web Awards provide promotional benefits, increased influence, boosted client confidence, and potentially improved search engine rankings. Funds raised support Girl Up, a campaign of the United Nations Foundation.
