DESCRIPTION:
Ganga Saptami (Ganga Jayanti / Ganga Pujan) is devoted to the goddess Ganga, representing happiness, fame, and salvation. Bathing in the Ganges river on Ganga Saptami is seen to bring good fortune. Garlands float down the river, and the Ganga Aarti, a devotional service featuring lit wicks soaked in butter nestled in bowls, is offered to the gods at sundown.
