Believed to be a miracle, in the 1650s, the city of Cagliari in Sardinia, Italy, somehow managed to escape the plague sweeping Europe. Locals believe it was the intervention of Saint Efisio. Since 1657, the city has held a festival during the first days of May, including a parade covering 65 km, period costumes, music, and entertainment, to commemorate the event.
