The Olivier Awards, formally known as the Laurence Olivier Awards, are annual awards presented by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) to recognize excellence in professional theatre in the United Kingdom, specifically in London's West End. Named after the renowned British actor Sir Laurence Olivier, the awards were established in 1976 and are considered the most prestigious honors in British theatre, often compared to the Tony Awards in the United States.
