The Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS) is an annual performing arts event in Sibiu, Romania. It is one of the largest and most prestigious theatre festivals in Europe and the world, attracting a wide range of theatre, dance, music, and circus performances from across the globe. The festival was founded in 1993 by Constantin Chiriac and has since grown to become a powerful platform for cultural exchange and artistic collaboration.
FITS usually takes place over ten days in June, showcasing various productions, including classical and contemporary theatre, puppetry, street theatre, dance, and performance art. The festival program includes ticketed and free events, allowing for the broadest possible audience engagement.
One of the key objectives of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival is to foster a spirit of cultural dialogue and mutual understanding among nations.
