According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.), 25% of pregnant women are at risk or carriers. GBS infects babies during pregnancy and their first months of life, and GBS can cause miscarriages, stillborns, and premature birth. Many children who contract GBS become sick, suffer from lifelong handicaps, and/or die.
