World Sustainable Transport Day focuses on the role of transport and transit corridors in sustainable development, the need for cooperation among all transport modes by highlighting the significance of international collaboration in addressing issues related to transport and transit corridors and recognizes the vulnerability of landlocked countries, emphasizing the need for efficient transit systems.
World Sustainable Transport Day underscores the importance of cooperation in infrastructure development, best practice exchange, and efforts to minimize energy consumption, land, and other resources.
The United Nations declares November 26 as World Sustainable Transport Day and encourages all Member States and organizations to mark this day with events to enhance public knowledge on sustainable transport issues. It invites the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the Secretariat to facilitate the observance of this day.
