This is what happened to 16-year-old Ali Lowitzer on April 26, 2010. As of this writing in 2020, Ali has yet to be found. Her mother, JoAnn Lowitzer, created National Missing Persons Day to bring attention to her daughter's situation and highlight the plight of the over 600,000 people in the United States who go missing every year and the 4,400+ unidentified bodies recovered each year.
