DESCRIPTION:
The week prior to Easter is the Passiontide, the holiest week in the Christian calendar.
In some denominations, Passiontide is the last two weeks that end on the Holy Saturday. In 1969, the Catholic Church reduced it to one week between Palm Sunday and Holy Saturday.
Customs vary from denomination to denomination, but crucifixes and images are generally covered in veils (usually violet).
