Bullying is a major problem in Canadian schools, workplaces, homes, and over the Internet. The event takes place on the last Wednesday of February.
The idea for wearing Pink Shirts to end bully started with two teenagers in Nova Scotia, David Shepherd and Travis Price. The two 17-year old's witnessed a 14-year old student being beat up for wearing a pink shirt. The boys were incensed and went down to the local discount store and purchased 50 pink tank tops, which they then passed around to their fellow students.
This started a movement that gained momentum and today is celebrated throughout Canada through the wearing of pink shirts to show solidarity for victims of bullying and to raise awareness of the issue.
