DESCRIPTION:
Coalition to Prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) began sponsoring Deep-Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Awareness Month in March 2003 with a mission of highlighting the potentially fatal complications of pulmonary embolism (PE) / killer blood clots.
The risk of DVT and PE increase with age; anyone can be affected by deep vein thrombosis and/or pulmonary embolism. Even Serena Williams, the professional tennis player, suffered a pulmonary embolism.
This disease affects people of walks of life, all ages and races.
