The Final Four features the championship college basketball teams of the four regional competitions: east, south, midwest, and west regions.
The Final Four is the playoff championship to determine which two teams will ultimately face each other for the National Championship game in April. It covers both the men's and women's basketball programs. This event is the culmination of a series of games known as "March Madness."
The tournament, which currently features 68 teams in four brackets, was created in 1939 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Originally it was the idea of Ohio State University coach Harold Olsen.
