What does spunky mean? First used in 1786, according to Webster, it describes a courageous person with an attitude, high-spirited and energetic. The word “Broad” was first used in 1659, though not to refer to a woman. The English slang appeared during the early 20th century as a derogatory term for common women of the lower classes. The context used for Spunky Old Broads Month is cheeky and defiant.

This event was created by Dr. Gayle Carson, lifestyle coach and media personality, to celebrate personal reinvention and living life to its fullest. Her practice mentors individuals so that they not only survive but flourish and reinvent themselves personally and professionally.
