About the Christian Holy Week of Passiontide

DESCRIPTION:
The week(s) prior to Easter is the Passiontide, the holiest week in the Christian calendar. In some denominations, Passiontide is the last two weeks that end on the Holy Saturday, the day before Easter. In 1969, the Catholic Church reduced it to one week between Palm Sunday and Holy Saturday.
Customs during this period vary from denomination to denomination, but generally crucifixes and images are covered in veils (usually violet in color).
