Ageism is a widely prevalent and prejudicial attitude that stems from the assumption that age discrimination and sometimes neglect and abuse of older persons is currently a social norm. It is, therefore, acceptable.

It finds expression in individuals’ attitudes, institutional and policy practices, and media representations devaluing and excluding older persons. Today is about appreciating the individual, abolishing discrimination based on how many wrinkles or gray hairs a person might have, and focusing on the potential and value of a human being at each stage of life.
