World Pangolin Day falls in the third Saturday of February. This event raises awareness about the importance and plight of the pangolins.
Pangolins are declining in their natural habitat, being the most trafficked animal. Prized for its scales and tender meat, pangolins, when threatened, curl up into a ball. Pangolins are the only scaly mammals, and they live in Africa and Asia. Though it looks like an anteater, they are more closely related to wolves and bears. This day is your opportunity to educate others on the importance of pangolins in the ecosystem as they balance out insect populations, their preferred food. Tweet #WorldPangolinDay on this day, talk about pangolins, inform schools about the importance of pangolins and support pangolin-related organizations.
