World Diabetes Day seeks to raise awareness about diabetes.
World Diabetes Day marks the birthday of Frederick Banting in 1891. Banting, in association with Charles Best and John James Rickard Macleod, conceived the idea that would later turn out to be the discovery of insulin in 1922.
On this day, people can participate in sports events, poster campaigns, monument lightings, press conferences and runs. There are also television appearances, diabetes workshops and exhibitions.
