Honoring the first 102 Korean immigrants to arrive in the United States on January 13, 1903; The US congress set aside this day beginning in 2005 with a resolution.
The Korea Economic Institute of America sponsors a highly anticipated luncheon in Washington DC each year, in honor of the anniversary. The day is celebrated by members of the Korean-American community throughout the United States.
