DESCRIPTION:
Celebrated the first full Monday - Sunday in August, National Smile Week has been around for at least 25 years, though we are unable to find out who is behind it. It may have begun as a dental promotion or it could have been a reason to remind people about the happiness and carefree days of summer. What we do know is the first Monday - Sunday of August was chosen as the event days for another celebration in the calendar, Bargain Hunting Week, specifically because finding a good bargain makes one smile. That event's sponsor chose the same dates as National Smile Week each year for that very reason.
