National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day celebrates chocolate chip cookies.
Chocolate chip cookies were first created by Ruth Graves Wakefield in Massachusetts during 1938. She broke a Nestle chocolate bar into pieces and added the chips to her cookie recipe.
Because of the popularity of the recipe, Nestle agreed to print the recipe on the back of the chocolate bar. By 1940, Nestle began selling chocolate chip packs.
