National Wildlife Day, founded in 2005, honors conservationist, 'The Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin (February 22, 1962). Irwin Died September 4, 2006. This event was created by Colleen Paige to focus on endangered species and support the zoos, sanctuaries and organizations working to save them. Until 2018, it ran on September 4. In 2018, it moved to February 22.
