My degree is in business and marketing. However, I disliked accounting so much, I spent years trying to figure out how to get a business degree without taking it. Calling a debt a credit and a credit a debit, that made no sense to me. Calculus I understood. Accounting, that was a foreign language.
Needless to say, I finally did have to buckle down and take three semesters of accounting and one of finance to achieve my ultimately desired degree, Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing. And I actually did fair in the courses, getting As and Bs. But, to this day I thank God for people that love accounting, the checks and balances, the neat little columns that need to add up. I thank God for them, so I don’t have to do it. We should all do what we enjoy, no?
Today is about showing our appreciation for the men and women who tackle the balance sheets, produce our financial statements and help us make sure we stay black rather than red. Today we honor the Management Accounting Professionals throughout the world. Thank you! Business wouldn’t survive without you!
