The National Brown-Bag-It Day celebrates the brown paper lunch bags used mainly by schoolboys and schoolgirls in the U.S. Ironically, the brown paper bag and the way to mass produce it, was invented by school teacher Francis Wolle in 1852.
Wolle and his brother patented their machine on October 26, 1852 and began producing bags as the Union Paper Bag Company.
