DESCRIPTION:
May 29, 1453 is the anniversary of the start of the Renaissance Period and marks the day Constantinople, today called Istanbul, fell to the Ottoman Empire. This event signaled the end of the Byzantine period and Christian rule in the east.
The Renaissance period would cover the next 300 years, ending in 1789 on the eve of the French Revolution (or, some might say - in 1815, with the close of the Napoleonic era).
The Renaissance is one of the most interesting and disputed periods of the European history. During this time the arts, sciences, political movements and medicine made great gains, leading to an era of enlightenment and forming the foundation of today’s modern world and most notably western civilization.
