About the Hindu Month of Bhadrapada

DESCRIPTION:
Bhadra (Bhadrapada or Bhaado Bhadra) is the 6th month in the Hindu calendar and occurs at the end of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
The month is one of four sacred to Hindus and considered ideal for pilgrimages. Observant Hindus make offerings of dairy products, practice austere living, avoid having family based marriages and celebrations. Most days of the month have specific rituals attached to them.
Major Hindu holidays celebrated during Bhadra include Ganesha Chaturthi and Sri Krishna Janmaashami.
