DESCRIPTION:
Cuckoo Warning Day is celebrated on the first day of summer, and has been since the 19th Century.
It is said that when you hear a cuckoo on this day, there will be a wet summer.
The cuckoo bird is a migratory species that spends its spring and summer in Europe and winter in Africa. Like the groundhog predicting the end of winter, the cuckoo determines the intensity of the summer rains.
