The Tropics are the region of the earth between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. They represent 40% of the world's land mass and 80% of biodiversity. They are the world's lungs and the source of many medicines, as well as unique cultures, languages and people. The United Nations has set aside the International Day of the Tropics to help educate the world about this important global resource.
