DESCRIPTION:
Build a Scarecrow Day celebrates the straw-stuffed pants, shirt, and hat assembled to protect crops from birds, mounted on a stick to look like a man.
Scarecrows have attained an iconic stature in modern pop culture. They have been a part of our agricultural tool kit for centuries. The earliest written account of scarecrows occurred in 1592. Today is a day to teach children about the role of scarecrows (outside of the Wizard of Oz) and build one for your garden.
