World Orca Day marks the anniversary of the release of Springer, a killer whale that was fostered after his mother was killed, on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada July 14, 2002.
It is a day to raise conservation awareness and focus on the unique attributes of one of the ocean's most intelligent creatures.
