National Lemon Meringue Pie Day celebrates one of America's most popular pies.
Originating in the 19th century, lemon meringue pie is made of shortbread based-pastry, lemon curd, and topped with meringue. The first lemon meringue pie is attributed to Swiss baker Alexander Frehse.
