Mail Order Catalog Day marks the anniversary of the premiere of the first catalog, the Montgomery Ward Catalog, in 1872.
At the time of its publication, it was revolutionary, a unique marketing and delivery service of goods from the store straight to the customer’s home.
Today the internet has made it obsolete. However, every time you order online, you can thank Montgomery Ward. Online shopping is the heritage of the original virtual store called the catalog.
