DESCRIPTION:
Lee Baxandall, a naturist and strong advocate for nude beaches beginning in the 1970s, founded The Naturist Society (TNS). August 7, 1976 was inaugurated as National Nude Beach Day. In 1992, TNS oversaw the expansion of the weekend event into the seven day Nude Recreation Week.
The event has occurred every year since with various organizations holding a number of events from trying to break the Skinny Dipping Record to nude days at various parks, clubs and beaches.
