DESCRIPTION:
Skyscraper Day commemorates the birthday of Louis H. Sullivan on September 3, 1856.
A mentor to Frank Lloyd Wright, he is considered the father of the American skyscraper. His most famous buildings include the Guaranty Building in Buffalo, New York; Wainwright Building in St. Louis, Missouri; Schiller Building and Theater in Chicago, Illinois; and the Auditorium Building in Chicago, Illinois.
