The Women’s National Book Association created National Reading Group Month in 2007 to mark the anniversary of the association’s founding in 1917.
The mission of National Reading Group Month is to:
a) Increase public awareness of the joy and value of shared reading.
b) Provide a time for reading groups to celebrate their accomplishments and plan for the future.
c) Provide opportunities for individuals to join an existing reading group or start a new one.
d) Encourage libraries, bookstores, and organizations to host special reading group events.
