DESCRIPTION:
Dhanu Sankranti marks the day when the sun enters the Dhanu Rashi or Sagittarius, and this is the beginning of the ninth month of the Hindu solar calendar.
On this day, Lord Surya, the sun god, is worshipped.
In Odisha, this festival is celebrated with much devotion and spirituality.
A special delicacy made of sweetened rice flakes, Dhanu Muan, is prepared as an offering to Lord Jagannath.
