DESCRIPTION:
This date is estimated. Actual date will be announced mid-April. Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity has used more from nature than our planet can renew. It shows the deficit in natural resources, pollution versus our use and destruction. Key contributors are overfishing, over harvesting forests, and carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. In short, we take more than ecosystems can absorb.
When the project began in 1980, the date was November 3. Each year it continues to fall back.

The date for the current year is announced in mid-April each year.
