Thesaurus Day in the United States celebrates the writer’s resource and invaluable tool of poets, the thesaurus. It occurs on the birthday of its creator in the English language, Peter Mark Roget (January 18, 1779 - September 12, 1869).
Roget created the first modern-day thesaurus in 1805, but it wasn’t published until 1852. His book, with updates, is still in print today.
