National Burns Awareness Month seeks to teach Australians burn prevention and the correct first aid treatment for burns. Winter is just beginning, which means an increased use of candles, fireplaces, heaters and ovens, not to mention hot water and other conveniences. Burns happen, but they can happen a lot less if precautions are taken and children (including adolescents) are educated about personal safety.
