"If fewer than 2% of pet-owning households in the U.S. fostered one pet a year, we could eliminate unnecessary euthanasia in shelters tomorrow," notes the Petco Foundation, champions of National Foster a Pet Month.
Fostering is great for the pet and great for you. It gives the pet an opportunity to be loved, played with and cared for, rather than spending life in a cage with hundreds of others. For you, it gives you a chance to test-drive a pet, or see if your family is ready to become a forever home. If you are interested in becoming a pet foster parent, check with your local Petco store at anytime of the year.
