The Mughal Emperor Jahangir ordered the torturing of Sikh gurus after their preaching resulted in conversions. As part of his torture, Guru Arjan Dev was ordered to sit on a burning hot sheet while hot sand was poured over him. On the fifth day, he was taken to the river and was not seen again.
