"If fewer than two percent of pet-owning households in the US fostered one pet a year, we could eliminate unnecessary euthanasia in shelters tomorrow," notes the Petco Foundation, champions of National Foster a Pet Month.
Fostering is excellent for the pet and great for you. Rather than spending life in a cage with hundreds of others, it allows the pet to be loved, played with, and cared for. It will enable you to test-drive a pet or see if your family is ready to become a forever home. If you want to become a pet foster parent, check with your local Petco store any time of the year.
