World Refugee Day highlights the plight, strength and courage of more than 65 million refugees throughout the world [2018].

On December 4, 2000, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 20 as World Refugee Day under Resolution 55/76 starting 2001. That year marked the 50th year of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees. This celebration also coincides with the Africa Refugee Day.
