DESCRIPTION:
The Tropics are the region of the earth between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. They represent 40 percent of the world's land mass and 80 percent of biodiversity. They are the world's lungs, the source of many medicines, and unique cultures, languages, and people. The United Nations has set aside the International Day of the Tropics to help educate the world about this critical global resource.
