International Assistance Dog Week is observed annually in early August to honor and raise awareness about animals and their trainers that enrich life for those with disabilities. Key objectives include:
1) Raising awareness and educating the public on the role of assistance animals.
2) Honor the puppy raisers and trainers of assistance dogs.
3) Recognize heroic deeds performed by assistance dogs in our communities.
