About National Bone Marrow Awareness Month

DESCRIPTION:
National Marrow Awareness Month occurs in November and acknowledges the success of transplant physicians and researchers. Bone marrow transplant procedures, using the donor's stem cells, have saved thousands of lives.
E. Donnall Thomas is the doctor responsible for discovering bone marrow transplants, earning him the Nobel Prize. Thomas performed the first operation in 1956.
